The Hellenic Mountain Guides Association (HMGA) is a professional organization that represents Hellenic Mountain Guides, offering support services, training, and regulatory oversight.
The Goals of HMGA
- The unification of all Greek Mountain Guides.
- The development of a spirit of cooperation and solidarity among its members, as well as with members of other mountaineering-related clubs and organizations in Greece and abroad.
- The advancement of Greek mountaineering standards and the widespread promotion of all forms of mountaineering, while also ensuring care for and protection of Greece’s mountain environments.
- The coordination of services provided by the association’s members to groups, individuals, clubs, federations, or any legal or natural entity connected with the association.
About HMGA
- It is a nationwide, first-level professional organization and can participate as an active member in federations, associations, and any entity in Greece or abroad that pursues similar or related objectives.
- It organizes events of cultural, educational, pedagogical, scientific, and recreational character, including gatherings, performances, conferences, tours, climbs, training courses, seminars, etc.
- It encourages, guides, supports, and assists in the development of studies on proper mountain area management, and participates in projects by public, municipal, or private entities that align with its objectives without harming the mountain environment.
- It is represented in any professional school related to mountaineering and work-at-height techniques, organized by relevant institutions (Mountaineering Federation, General Secretariat of Sports, etc.).
