Generally
Sports enthusiasts, for years athlete of swimming, basketball and a keen mtb cyclist, it did not take long for the mountains to steal him and since then he was exclusively involved in mountaineering, skiing and climbing.
A member of EOS Komotini, he participated from early ages in the Administration of the club and continues until today, offering his knowledge and experiences to young and active climbers. He has a significant climbing and mountaineering activity on many cliffs of Greece (Varasova, Giona, Meteora, Vardousia, Olympus, Astraka, Falakro, Paggaio) and has opened several new climbing routes in the mountains of Greece. He has climbed on rock, ice and mixed routes in the Alps (Italy, France, Switzerland) and Bulgaria (Vihren, Musala, Rila, Vratsa, Karlukovo, Veliko Tarnovo). He has made many first Greek ascents and has successfully organized expeditions to Alaska (McKinley 6129m.), Turkey (Ararat, Aladaglar, Erciyes), Iran, to Nepal, to Caucasus, Bulgaria and he has climbed in Yosemite (USA). He participates in ski mountaineering crosses in the mountains of Greece and abroad and also as a technical representative or as an athlete in mountaineering ski races. He is active mainly in the mountains of northern Greece and in the mountains of Bulgaria (Rila, Pirin) and Turkey, where he organizes Trekking.
Schools
He participates in all levels of training as Instructor in mountaineering, climbing and ski mountaineering schools of EOOA, as well as in mountaineering , climbing and rescue of Fire services Schools. Carries out Rescue Schools, in respective groups. He is the coach of the Climbing Team of EOS Komotini ‘s club with many distinctions.
Associations
He participated in the Administration of EOS Komotini’s club as a general secretary or as a member of the Board of the club.
Mountaineering Expeditions
Abroad he has climbed in the Alps (Italy, France, Switzerland). Climbed the Matterhorn 4478m. from 3 different routes (Hornli ridge, Lion ridge, Schmidt route), to Grandes Jorasses (Walker spur), Mont Blanc, Mont Maudit, Col Ecless, Dent du Geant, to the Dolomites (Cinque Torre, Mizurina) and on many ice routes in Cogne . In Bulgaria he climbed rock, ice and mixed routes (northern Vihren, Seven lakes, Skakavitsa). He has successfully organized expeditions to Alaska (McKinley 6129m), Nepal (Everest BC, Kala Patar), Turkey (Ararat, Aladaglar, Erciyes), Iran, the Caucasus, Slovenia and has climbed Yosemite. Π.Α.). In Bulgaria he has successfully organized trekking in Rila and Pirin.
Ascents / Climbing
He has a significant climbing and mountaineering activity on many cliffs of Greece (Varasova, Giona, Meteora, Vardousia, Olympus, Astraka, Falakro, Paggaio) as well as he has opened several new climbing routes in the mountains of Greece and has organized many climbing fields and sectors. Since 1990 he has been involved in mountaineering skiing, crossing the mountains of Greece and abroad.
Social contribution
He has participated in the rescue of climbers on Mount Olympus, as well as in search of missing climbers in Falakro, Samothrace and Rodopi.
Writing activity
He participated in a postgraduate thesis of TEFAA Komotini on: “The effect of muscle strengthening of the lower limbs on the specificity of the wrist in novice climbers”. He has authored 2 textbooks in Greek for beginners, in rock climbing and ice climbing, entitled: “Mini rock climbing guide” & “Mini Ice climbing guide”.
