Generally
Giorgos Malamas holds a degree in Humanities from the University of Patras.
From a young age, he starts training in schools of the Hellenic Federation of Mountaineering & Climbing and completes the school chart. He was then trained by the French ANENA (Association Nationale pour l’Étude de la Neige et des Avalanches), where he is certified as an avalanche search and rescue instructor. Accordingly, he is trained in mountain rescue in winter fields in the Tatras of Slovakia where he is certified by HZS (Horska Zachranna Sluzba) – Mountain Rescue Service of the Slovak Republic.
His mountaineering education is regularly enriched by trainings and participation in trainings, companies and conferences in Greece and abroad by various organizations.
Since 2008, he has been working in private primary and secondary schools, promoting mountaineering and climbing education, in natural and artificial fields. Since 2012, he actively and officially participates as a delegate in the international conferences, workshops and working groups of ICAR (International Commission of Alpine Rescue) with the main subject of Terrestrial Rescue and Avalanche Rescue. Since 2013, he has been continuously and enthusiastically participating in the education part of EOOA’s beginner and intermediate level mountaineering and climbing schools. Also from the same year, he creates and maintains the tourist office for outdoor activities ‘Climb Up’ in Kalamata Messinia with the main activity, hiking and climbing recreational tours.
Since 2019 he has been teaching in the Mountain Leaders specialty at DIEK/SAEK.
He has skied, hiked and climbed in most mountains in Greece but also in many mountains abroad such as in Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
He has created a number of climbing routes mainly of a sports, in various parts of Greece, but mainly in Lagada, Kardamili and Nedousa, areas of Southern Greece.
