According to the Greek legislation (L.864 / 1937), to become a  Mountain Guide in Greece, it is required to issuance a license from the EOOA (Hellenic Mountain & Climbing Association). For the issuance of this license, EOOA sets the following standards:

• Technical competence. EOOA Mountain Guide Diploma (Total 129 days of practice , in Greece and abroad, in all levels and fields, climbing-mountaineering – ski). Or other equivalent Diploma, which is recognized by EOOA.
• Greek citizenship or other European Union country citizenship.
• At least twenty-five years old.
• The Mountain Guide who is interesting should not have been convicted of deprivation of civil rights.
• The interested Mountain Guide must have a permanent residence or stay or permanent address in Greece

Those Greeks Mountain Guides who are interesting to became a professional and they have all the above necessary standards and prerequisites can and should apply to the EOOA for the issuance of their license, which will grant to them in a period of about one month.
